Kamzang Journeys is a small, experienced mountain-based trekking and adventure travel company with an infectious enthusiasm for trekking, adventure travel and living. Based in the Shangri-La of Kathmandu, Nepal (although somewhat more tainted than it was when trekking and mountaineering first 'discovered' it), the Kamzang staff divides much of its time between the mountains of Nepal & India.

Kamzang Journeys specializes in 'off the map' treks & travels in the Himalaya - Nepal, Tibet, the Indian Himalaya & Bhutan - and other nearby destinations - Rajasthan, the Indian Subcontinent & Mongolia. We also venture across the 'Silk Route' countries and sometimes wander through other continents in search of adventure (and new designs for the 'Kamzang World Design' collection) ...

Ann McCollum

For over 20 years Ann has been a school and outdoor educator working in summer camps and schools, training wilderness staff, and organizing and leading multi-day backcountry trips. These experiences prepared Ann to start a consulting business in which she specializes in reviewing and writing risk management policy and practice for schools, camps, and experiential education programs. She has led and taught students and adults in backpacking, hiking, climbing, kayaking, rafting, and Himalayan trekking and service.

As a former middle and high school teacher, counselor, coach, and administrator, Ann honed her skills wrangling the collective will and energy of her students and should be well-prepared in May 2012, to serve the Everest4Heroes team as Base Camp Manager (www.everest4heroes.com).

Now living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ann earned her undergraduate degree at Middlebury College (Vermont) and her graduate degree at the University of Virginia, is certified as a Wilderness First Responder, and is a graduate of the NOLS Instructors Course.

Finding time away from her consulting business whenever possible, Ann loves to be on her road bike, exploring the US in her teardrop trailer, telemark skiing, and is on a constant search for the perfect margarita.
